REBEL turned one and I’ve been trying to figure out what to say about it.
I had a clear vision when I opened this place. I knew what I wanted it to stand for. I knew what I didn’t want it to be. I felt prepared for most of it.
What I was not prepared for was you.
I was not prepared for how many people would walk through that door having never done this before. Never really done much movement at all. And then just... show up. Week after week. And get strong. Quickly. In ways that were genuinely visible and real.
I think about one member in particular. She came to the beginner series nervous. She’d had back surgery and movement felt scary, like something that might hurt her rather than help her. She wasn’t sure this was a good idea. She showed up anyway.
She comes in a few times a week now. She’s stronger. She’s in less pain. She moves better in her everyday life. She loves it.
That’s not a transformation story. That’s a life story. And it’s exactly why REBEL exists.
She’s not the only one. I watch people come in uncertain about their bodies and within a few weeks they’re moving differently. Standing differently. Trusting themselves differently. That part never gets old.
And then there’s the other thing I didn’t see coming, the way people started connecting with each other. The inside jokes. The cheering each other on. The “wait, you come on Tuesdays too?” conversations that turn into actual friendships
Saturday at our open house I kept stopping to just look around the room. At the people. At what a year of showing up looks like when it’s all in one place together. It was a lot.
So. Thank you. For being part of REBEL community. For showing up when it was hard and unfamiliar. For getting stronger every single week even when you couldn’t see it yet. For building something with me that I couldn’t have built alone.
Year two. Let’s go.
